About

A brief history

With a long-standing interest in photography, my first steps were made with a second hand Agfa Silette.

Initially, the predominant medium was the colour 35mm slide. I also explored other opportunities wherever possible, including Agfa’s Dia-Direct black and white slides.

Living and working close to the Lake District has shaped part of my photographic character, with landscape photography a prime interest. After many years working with Contax/Yashica based 35mm equipment, when finally replacing this with digital, the switch was to Canon.

2024/2025

2024 proved a less successful year in terms of landscape photography. A number of reasons for this, but the trade off was that more opportunities arose for developing technique in macro and event photography. While each provided its own demands and challenges, landscape and travel are still prime interest and the "New Year Resolution" for 2025 is to refocus on these areas, while not ignoring the newer subject matter. Of particular appeal would be one of the Scottish islands as yet not visited, as well as looking back to a European desination, although at this stage, there is nothing specifically in the diary!
